Story of a Girl

Mar 23, 2005 15:11

Conceived in a moment of placating sickness
Kept for reasons barely known
To be born to a home broken before it began

With a mother half way through her teens
Only trying to please her creator
And a father lead by nothing but his sexual drive
Who’s love for the mother was threadbare

A child out of wedlock, bastard baby
Little princess on the maternal side and little nothing on the paternal
Too young to notice anything but momma’s voice

Wore a dainty white frock for the wedding
with a hand on mommy’s newly swollen tummy
a brother, on eyear younger and so much bigger
possesed since birth of a temper rivaled only by strength
Never shared a bond, those two babes
Not that she didnt try to play mother, sister or nurse
wanted to hold him, wanted back her crib

Three years passed in relative ignorant bliss

Daddy's never around because mommy couldnt lie to herself anymore
his heart is nonexistant, no matter, mommy likes girls anyway
prancing about the house, singing and pulling her pigtails
in a little red dress with white frills
oblivious to the raging hell

Another baby hides in mommy's belly,
creating another chance to make a bond
to play mommy or sissy
This time to a pretty little girl with big brown eyes
because mommie liked being pregnant
Got a chance and kept it
Big sister, twice over now,
made it a mission to care for the little hyper one,
loved to chase her'round the supermarket
trying to keep her clothed

But the eldest was the smallest and mommy was worried
taken to the scary doctors who made mommy mad
said the child would neer grow normal
needed to be made longer by poles in her legs
but girl did grow, ever so slow, without the upsetting metal

then daddy hurt mommy and all three kids
breaking down the door, screaming, he stole everything not bolted down,
standing atop bloodred carpeted stairs
she stood still in her white and pink nightie holding tight to the trembling boy in blue footies

then mommy met a woman who made mommy happy
but the woman cared not a whit for the brother with his violent outbursts
so brother went to daddy way down in florida
while the girls were at school
mommy's girlfriend didnt like the older one either
yet adored the little one and it showed as time went on

A lonely little priss played with her dollies, imaginary friends
trying to ignore the shouts or her sister's mean G.I. Joe's
Then mommy got dogs bigger than the girl
beautiful creatures called Great Danes
Lost in a world of mind, nooks and canines, she made it through
the years of playing a not so charming Cinderella
and grudging protector of her sister

never fitting in no matter where they moved
and move they did because mommy and girlfriend kept falling apart
older and wiser she grew
more of the sullen tomboy showed through
'slightly' strange for society, morbid and cruel
made to see a woman - or seven - who wanted inside her head
or she couldn't go back to school
anger continued to well inside and nothing ever mattered
she wasnt good enough, pretty or noticed

Year after year the sisters grew apart
and mommy seemed to drift away
left to fight for identity with grandparents forcing junk down her throat
nothing by way of confidance
glasses and braces with a rail thin form rivaled an attitude far too old

so mommy took her eldest down to south carolina fra a long six months
and yet again the girl was different
a damned yankee with pagan interests among southern christians
but mommy andher friend kept the girl laughing and little by little
taught her how to smile, be happy and stand tall

then they went down to florida to meet up with daddy and brother
who were strangers to the girls and she liked it that way
sister came down and missed the now Ex girlfriend
who coldly rejected her without so much as a twitch
and mommy pretended to love daddy to get brother back
so the girls suffered violence again in tired silence

came back north to live with mommy's mommy
and brother was sent off to DSS with his anger problems
while mommy schemed to be rid of daddy and his badness
The girl was not close to family other than the youngest Aunty and Cousin
But Grama fought and thought the girl to be a bad person for Cousin to be with

She began dating, at her friends prodding, but the boys werent loyal or worth it
nor the only girlfriend so she tried to stay alone
her friend's werent any better and the new teen began to sink deeper into the hell
till she entered high school and was accepted for herself

Met a guy she fell for hard but he soon soured
spent nearly two years with him on and off
gave the boy everything she ever had
didnt want to realize that no matter how he loved her he'd never change
For the first time she understood heartbreak
and wanted nothing more than numbness
but mommy met sonia and knew happiness
and even though borther came back and tried to break them up
they won and brother started calming down
was only really pushy and violent to his darling older sister

deeper and deeper into the pagan mysteries she went
determined to find the place she could call home without fearing to be there
and she was no longer weak
Little sister began to discover demons
while the other continued to battle the never ending stream of her own hellions
Small bumps here and there, caused her to stumble
She refused to fall to her knees at the expense of her pride
Bolt after bolt of flames shot to the struggling figure
arrow after arrow delt with on its own, broken before moving to the next

Momma and Sonia got engaged
daddy denies his daughters yet has so many others
brother keeps trying to slap sister around
who finally found someone she can call Forever Mine
but even with friendships that for once are true
and a love that isnt based on lies and needles
Home will never ever be home nor family be anything other than shared blood

She's found herself now, discovered this thing call happiness
and she'll have to fight for it as nothing's ever easy
the battle's never won
the demons come and go
She will forever bare the scars and the darkness...

This is a story
An unfinished story
A story of a girl, not yet seventeen
Who's seen horrors and known wonders.

This is my story.
