a religious treatise

Sep 12, 2006 18:29

it seems as those God Himself has posted comments on my last two posts. while normally this would not be something i would reference, it comes at a slightly ironic time. the reasoning behind this is that i've been quasi-dumped using the religious excuse. i say quasi because we were never really dating, just hanging out, but i was informed that ( Read more... )

speaking on behalf of reasonable christians, and quite out of turn i'm sure:

it is not one of our "rules". it does not say anywhere (anywhere official and by official i mean god) that we can't date anyone outside of christianity. actually, i think that if she were to check her good book she'd find that she's not supposed to date at all, regardless of religion. or at least it says she realy doesn't have a say in the matter. i think it says you give her dad an ass/two goats, or a chest of geodes. besides, since when are you responsible for her religious integrity? if she were really strong in her faith she'd be able to stand on her own two feet. they're not even rules, they're guidelines. water that is too pure has no fish.

i'll tell you what to do. save up all your rage, and on festivus we'll all get around the aluminum pole for the airing of grievances! tell her it's a religious ceremony and she should come, if she's your friend. then the feats of strength!

amen to yale. he's right. if her faith was strong enough then she could do it on her own.

it's nice to be surrounded by good christian people, but you're also supposed to embrace those who aren't and love them the same way.

I actually completely agree with you on the Israelite issue. One of my many issues with fundamentalists is how they pick and choose which parts of the Bible to take literally. The Jehovahs Witnesses, for example, don't take blood transfusions, which results in unecessary deaths. More than that, they have a whole legal document on which devotees can specify which blood fractions they may or may not deem personally okay to take. All the while they disfellowship members who have come to believe differently, disolving familial ties that should be sacred. Talk about straining out the gnat and swallowing the cow, or whatever the phrase is ( ... )

a few things:

jeremy is teh r0x0r.

i am teh drunks.

my g/f is a jewess, a yid-maiden, so...i got ya. it's ok...she thinks racial slurs are funny. so do i. so spiritually we agree. noah is a juden, so talk to him about the torah/moses, king of the fighting rabbis! unless of course you count joshua. he done fit the battle of jericho. btw, my girlfriend is jewish (not really practicing but whatevs, ask noah about if your mother is jewish) if you didn't get that through all the blatant racism.

finally:

jeremy is quite right. i am a bad ass.
