I was talking on the phone to some woman in recovery from her ED the other day, and she came down on me like a ton of bricks when I used the word fat about myself. She called the word 'fat' a negative word. So I used the word obese, as it is a medical fact. She ended the conversation. This really wound me up

i think that unless you are using fat as a negative word it is perfectly ok to use it as a description of oneself. theres a big difference between you saying "i am fat and ok with that. i love myself" very matter of factly and a person with low self esteem saying "ewww im so fat and yucky i hate myself". I think maybe she wasnt seeing the difference. good for you for sticking to your beliefs!
