The word capital in "capital punishment" refers to a person's head. In the past, people were often executed by severing their head from their body. Regardless of the Bible's messages, capital punishment should be used with discretion, prudence and most certainly when the perpetrator of an incredibly unfathomable crime is proved guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. Does that make it right? You tell me... ... ...

Well, I think you have to go a bit deeper to, because the Bible is not the only book that people would reference for this. In fact, there are people who look at that book as a wonderful book of myths. (Go look up the definition before jumping my case one this word! :P)

However, the death penalty is a necessary part of society. Right or wrong, good or ill. Beyond that, the magic 8 ball said my reply is hazy, ask again later. :P
