Little Tokyo

So we went to Little Tokyo on Saturday night. Thanks (I think) for the recommendations. Although I really could have done without the "shagging a life-size oriental puppet" floorshow, complete with flashing lights and boom-boom-boom. What on earth was all that about?! Food was... interesting. Big. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing - Vegan ( Read more... )

Weird... it's normally very good and normally without boom-boom-boom and floorshow.

I think I am just an amazingly fussy eater at the moment. It was all too much "generic oriental takeaway in brown sauce" for me. The fuzzy mushrooms were definitely fun though... and if I go again, I would definitely do one of the bentos.

They do some very strange and not generic things though -- things I've never seen before on other menus.

Yes, they do. I'd just have preferred to have been able to see my mountain yam or my daikon or my jellyfish mushroom thing on the plate, rather than the smothering of oyster sauce. As I say, I am just very very fussy right now.

The bento boxes are nice, and you get to pick and choose a little more what you get.

When we went last week someone had a birthday and someone hear us got Happy Birthday in Japanese and the ceremonious banging of gongs. Maybe it's just what they do?

... and the puppet? :-)
Yes, I agree the bento would probably have been a far better choice. It's good to know the place is there though. I need to get a map of foodie places in Leeds in my head... otherwise we just tend to end up at Arts.
