What has happened to hotel prices in York?! Am trying to book to stay first weekend in December and everything I can find online seems really outrageous (that's if I can even get there because the trains are equally ludicrous). I've already had to turn down coming to a friend's wedding (Oz's, as it happens, for those who know him..) in October

If you phone Tourist Information in York their book a bed ahead service might be able to help you out, or they may be able to give you some ideas on where to try.

That's a good idea. I can't think of any other cheap options - youth hostel??

I am obviously looking in all the wrong places. Perhaps wanting would be a more appropriate word.... :-)

It might be affordable if you can find 10 friends to share with...perhaps not so relaxing though... ;-)
