maybe stress will make me skinny
i'm so terrified of fucking up at my job that i'm giving myself headaches. i have screwed up a few times, nothing major but it just ups my nervousness factor that much more. plus i feel like the cool kids will never like me. and it also just makes me want to crawl back to island press

And you've been at the job, what, a week? Don't stress so much, you'll pick it up as you go and life will be fine again. Freelancing fulltime will just stress you out in a different way if you can't pull down a steady full time workload.
Besides, since when do the cool kids matter? And since when have either of us been "cool kids"? Come on, dude, you're a former theater geek, the cool kids will never like you and you'll never quite fit in. It's a fate we're just plain doomed to. And you know what? Judging by the two "cool kids" I'm cursed to be sitting next to in Starbucks right now, I never EVER want to be one of them, or be associated with any of them.
PS I love you and you fit in fine by my standards.
