i just wish i could get everything out...but my tears have dried up. My school building is in ruins, no working plumbing and a list of thousands of other complaints. We told parents initially that school would be starting on the 7th, but we've called parents to say don't even bother coming till the 11th. I know this is really easy for me to say, but don't stress, dude. What's going to get the city back to functioning is people like you, doing the work you're doing. I know it's really hard, but I hope you can take some comfort in the fact that you're doing something really essential and good for the city as a whole just by showing up every day and doing your best.

One of the public schools in New Orleans that a friend went to (I think it was Kennedy?) when I was in high school didn't even have proper plumbing before the hurricane. My friend told me stories about how every time he had to use the bathroom, the students had to obtain a pass from the office that would let them use the Burger King across the streetAnd yeah, bitter old public school teachers can be the worst. So can old librarians (totally didn't say that, by the way). But bitter old people in any job suck, so don't let them drag you down to their level. Just commit yourself to your job and ignore them when they pull whatever petty, judgmental shit they're bound to pull, ( ... )
