I had no idea when I was a kid, but apparently Judy Blume's books were REALLY controversial when they came out and were censored in a lot of places. Because no one had ever written about young people thinking about, like, real stuff before. Her and Paul Zindel and a few others are considered the pioneers of what is now young adult lit. Anyway!
