Jul 09, 2010 22:42

It's not often that Sarah spends extended amounts of time in the Nexus, these days. She usually has something to do or someone to see, and simply spending time in the Nexus to answer questions or wander about was no longer a priority ( Read more... )

And here's Captain John at your service!

"Heeey there, Sarah! How's it going, love?"

And he'll throw himself in the chair across from hers.

Sarah looks up at the voice, startled, before breaking into a smile. "Hi, John! I thought you were in Bolivia?"

"Just arrived!" The Nexus works in mysterious ways indeed! "Funny country!"

He rubs his hands together and look around. "So how do you order around here? Standard Nexus fare?"

Sarah laughs. "Funny? How so? I've never been."

She gestures at one of the waiters who is busy bustling a few tables, which isn't taking him that long considering he has several tentacles in addition to his arms. "I just ordered a coffee, but I think they have some baked goods, too."

A too-thin shadow in gray and black, Courtney Crumrin appears across the field of tables. She's been spending time in the Nexus, haunting corners and out-of-the way couches, forcing herself to be civil to anyone she meets.

Seeing a familiar face, she pauses, but she's not sure whether she should come closer or not.

Sarah has just finished her coffee and is debating whether to order another when she catches Courtney in her peripheral vision. The two Courtneys that she knows are so glaringly dissimilar to her that she immediately recognizes which one it is.

Without hesitation, she smiles and waves at the younger woman. "Hello, Courtney. Would you like to join me for some coffee?"

She looks a little startled, but she manages a small smile and nods. "Sure. Uh...how've you been?" She comes over and sits across from Sarah, crossing her ankles.

She's more for tea than coffee, but either will do. "Thorn's at work," she adds by way of explanation as to why she's wandering around alone.

"Just fine, dear. How have you been? Thank you for the flowers, by the way, they were beautiful." She keeps her tone kind but casual, not wanting to overwhelm Courtney, even if her instincts want to push food and comfort on her instead.

"I'm glad I'm not the only one who still visits the Nexus. It was getting a little lonely."

She gestures for a waiter, a furry blue fellow who seems enthusiastic, albeit not particularly competent, and orders another cup of coffee. Courtney can order whatever she likes, including tea.

Irma is being lazy, and plus it's raining back home. She decides that today she's going to cut through the Nexus to get home, rather than take a cab or use a PINpoint and cheat.

She's walking a little slowly, mind elsewhere as well, but then she spots a certain nurse. After a moment, she walks over and speaks up. "Sarah? Hey. How're you doing?" She looks good - all the bruises are gone, and she's eating pretty well, so. Just a little tired.

Sarah looks up from her book and smiles warmly. "Hello, Irma. I'm fine, just taking a little break from everything. Would you like to join me?"

Irma smiles after a second, then walks over and sits across from her. "If it's not an inconvenience... Is the coffee here good?" she asks.

Sarah sets her book aside. "It's pretty good. I'm on my second cup." Irma is probably a better judge of good coffee than Sarah, but she won't be disappointed. She gives the waiter a small wave to get his attention. When he comes over, he'll take Irma's order.
