Friends who've been rate it highly (but avoid the heavily developed resorts), frequently disliked Cambodia and the Cambodians, but seemed to enjoy Laos most of all.

Yes, that was by far the best tourist ad for Vietnam I've ever seen, and yes, it makes me want to go there (and nearly makes me want to learn to ride a motorbike!)
