Summary:I hadn't realized that I had cried. All that mattered was him and me.

I know this sucks.Forgive me!!

“Ugh! It still isn’t right!” I crumpled another piece angrily in my hands before throwing it carelessly behind me to join the other rejects.

Defeated, I buried my face in my hands. I was supposed to sketch an editorial cartoon for the Blue House’s annual gala was sponsoring but seriously! What political moral can you get from snobby, rich people sniffing champagne up their noses?!

I heard the living room door creak open followed by the sound of footsteps stepping over scrunched up pieces of paper that probably littered every inch of the apartment.

“Good evening” Kibum, my fiancé, whispered in my ear, his mint scented breath wafting so that I could inhale it. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer to his body. I allowed my stressed body to lean into his embrace, sighing all my worries away.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, his fine brows scrunching in concern on his pale forehead. Inwardly, it made me smile despite my fatigued state. I never really had anyone care for me since my family is in Japan. Kibum is all I have. He’s my whole world.

“It’s this sketch I have to do for the newspaper. I can’t think of anything and its due in a few days. If I don’t submit it, I’ll lose my job “I ranted in my tired voice, slightly cracking at the end. Frustrated tears rolled down my face and spotted his white dress shirt.

“Shhhh” he cooed, His long fingers combing my tangled tresses.” It’s going to be alright”

I shook my head like a stubborn child. There was no possible way that I could finish this in a few days time. Even my dear Kibum couldn’t get me out of this mess.

“How about I help?” he offered

Despite my hopeless being, I couldn’t help but quirk a brow at his offer. Kibum? Sketch? Those two words didn’t belong in the same sentence unless separated by the conjunction can’t.

He seemed to not notice my doubtful expression or simply didn’t care. Not leaving my side, he reached out for the much abused pencil on the top of my table. He placed a clean sheet of paper in front of us and began to sketch( well, the best he can anyway). He dragged the pencil over the paper and drew a long wavy diagonal line. He breathed out in relief and repeated the process. I bit my lip to keep from bursting into laughter. Kibum looked absolutely hilarious with his eyebrows practically meshing together in the middle of his forehead and a little bit of his pink tongue sticking out from between his plump lips.

Finally he straightened up and drew in a long breath of relief. I looked back at his drawing to see five uneven lines forming something that resembled an upside down pentagon (I think) and two figures that must be oblongs forming two rings, The smaller one in the middle with the larger one surrounding it.

“What do you see?” he asked, his eyes glistening with mischief, the kind a child looks at you with when he knows something you don’t.

I looked carefully at the squiggly lines and uneven polygons. I curved my lips into a knowing smile and looked at him with bright eyes.

“It’s a light bulb”

The ends of Kibum’s smiling lips turned upside down into a frown.

“Try again” he said monotonously.

“a raindrop?”

“No”

“A coffin?”

“No”

“A flaming hoop?”

“Rye Yeon” he warned in an irritated tone.

“Alright, alright” I said, chuckling slightly at my own joke.

“It’s a ring” I said with a smile, my eyes looking straight into his brown eyes.

He smiled. The smile was more beautiful and a million times more breathtaking than his signature killer smile.

He tenderly lifted my hand and brought it to his lips. I blushed red at the action. My mouth opening agape as his warm breath blew over the skin.

“Kim Rye Yeon” he began, his warm petal soft lips brushing over the skin, teasing it ever so slightly “ I promise to take care of you until were old and grey. I’ll put you and our children ( he’s smile seemed to widen at this) as my first priority. I’ll treat you so carefully that even a princess would be jealous. I’ll love you until the stars fade to black and the sun ceases to shine.”

He raised his eyes to look into mine.

That was all it took. He needn’t say a thousand words or write a letter. The love in his eyes was just enough. It was amazing to see how his pupils dilated in joy or how the color of his iris seemed to stand out and it seemed there was a sheen covering the whole of his eyes, making it glisten under the fluorescent light.

“Yes” I breathed out. I didn’t even realize that I had cried or that I only had 58 hours left and counting. All that mattered was him and me.

Us.
