“The sky is bright and the sun is shining!!! Good morning Seoul and welcome to the number 1 radio program, Sukira Radio. I am your DJ Angel Teuki and…”
‘CRASH’
“Stupid alarm clock” Yayun muttered as she stared of what remained of the alarm clock on the now dented floor.
Her eyes automatically flickered to the calenedar on her bedside table.
November 7,2009 it said, circled with a bright red marker.
“Happy birthday to me!” she sang excitedly.
Yayun hopped out of bed and went to the bathroom to do her morning ritual. She wore her favorite strapless scarlet gown for the occasion and paired it with some black pumps. After deciding she was decent , she skipped towards the kitchen.
She wondered what her boyfriend for three years is planning for her birthday.
‘Maybe he made me breakfast like last year’ she thought excitedly ‘or maybe even wrote a love letter.’
On the kitchen countertop there was a letter. With a squeal of glee, she tore the envelope open and read it with excitement:
My Beloved Yayun,
I’m sorry I can’t be there for your birthday. I had an emergency call from China. I’m really sorry.
Love you lots,
Zhou Mi <3
Yayun felt her morning go cold.
‘Great!’ she thought sarcastically ‘It’s my birthday and my boyfriend just had to be out of town’
“What else could go wrong?!” she wailed.
She shouldn’t have asked.

“Honey, I think you should answer that” Yesung said as he tried to nudge his girlfriend who refused to leave his embrace.
“No” Jia Mei said, snuggling closer “I rather like it here”
“Mei Mei! Mei Mei!” a muffled voice outside exclaimed, accompanying the violent bangs on the poor wooden frame.
With a sigh, Jia Mei disentangled herself from her boyfriend’s arms and proceeded to answer the door.
She was about to joke “ Are you trying to break down the door?” but when she opened the door, she was rendered speechless.
“What happened to you?” Jia Mei exclaimed horrifically.

Yayun stood on their front porch face streaming with tears, hair standing out on ends and her red dress ruffled.
“Wo de tian ah!” Jia Mei exclaimed, taking in her appearance.
“Mei Mei!” Yayun cried as she threw herself at Jia Mei, wrapping her long arms around the girl’s neck.
“What’s wrong?” her mei mei asked as she steadied her.
“It’s all been so horrible!” she confessed, crying again “This is the worst day of my life!”
“There, there” Jia Mei comforted “Let me make you some tea.”
She seated Yayun in a chair and boiled a kettle of water.
“Tian ah, Mei Mei” Yayun said as her friend searched the cupboards for some tea leaves.
“Tell me all about it”
Suddenly a loud voice called from the living room. “Hey honey, I’m going to buy some milk for the refridgerator. I’m just gonna be out for a minute” Yesung shouted.
“Okay. Stay Safe” Jia Mei shouted back before focusing again on Yayun.
“First ,Zhou Mi is gone” she started
“Really?” Jia Mei asked, surprised but something about her manner seemed peculiarly fake.
“Yes” she sobbed, oblivious “ then I went to the dry cleaners to find out that they ruined my favorite shirt!”
“The blue one?”
“Yes!”
“That’s my shirt!” Jia Mei exclaimed as she put a cup of steaming tea in front of her.
“Then I walked to your place” she continued, ignoring her friend’s cry of outrage “but I stepped on something icky and..” but it was all lost in a sob.
‘That would explain the smell’ Jia Mei thought, secretly inspecting her immaculately clean kitchen floor for any strange residue.
“I can’t take it anymore!” she cried as she tried to take a sip of her tea but her hand was trembling so much that spilled and splashed on her already ruined dress.
“NOW LOOK!!” she screamed, pointing at the wet patch on her dress.
“GOD, I HATE MY LIFE!” she continued “OF ALL THE DAYS THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ME, WHY TODAY! DAMNIT!”
She grabbed her purse and stormed out, slamming the door in her wake.
“She must be having her period” Jia Mei muttered, finishing her Pau pei’s tea.

Yesung was walking back to the apartment he shared with his girlfriend when someone bumped into him.
On further observation, she saw it was Yayun, his girlfriend’s baby ( much to Yesung’s disdain. Why can’t he be her baby?)
“Are you alright?” he asked.
Yayun looked up. Yesung wished she hadn’t. She looked horrible: Her eyes were read and puffy and her make-up turned her face into an abstract painting.
“Yayun“ He tried to place a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
“IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!” she suddenly barked at his face before storming off.
Yesung stared after her, wondering what the hell happened.

“Is everything ready?” Tae Hee asked, faced flushed with exhaustion.
“Yes” Ryeowook answered while he was fixing a streamer that went out of place.
“Ouch, that’s my foot!” Xinyi exclaimed, glaring threatingly at Jia Mei who was slowly backing away.
“Who turned off the lights?” Yesung asked.
“NOBODY TOUCH THE CAKE!” Rin Yeon yelled.
“ By the way, where is she?” Zhou Mi asked.
“…………”
“Oh God”

‘Hello, this is Yayun. I’m sorry, I’m not here right now but feel free to leave me a message. If you’re my land lord and your name is Ha Bi Her then I’m sorry you got the worng number. Leave a message after the cat meows. Meow.’
Jia Mei slammed the phone down on the receiver.
“Great!” she exclaimed “ She’s not at her house. She’s not at the office. She’s not at the candy store. Where the hell could she have gone to?”
Zhou Mi stood up abruptly and made for the door.
“Wait!” Jia Mei shouted after Zhou MI’s retreating form “What about the cake?!”

‘This is all my fault’ Zhou Mi thought as he sped through alleyways and street corners.
He turned right into a park and ran until he found a towering rose bush. Behind it he found Yayun, bawling on a wooden bench.
He ran to her, grabbed her forearms and pulled her up.
“Yayun, I’m so sorry” he said.
Frantically, he started kissing her cheeks, the tip of her nose, her forehead and her lips, saying sorry again and again.
“I’m sorry” Zhou Mi said again, kissing her lips.
“Zhou Mi” Yayun said, smiling now “It’s okay”
She hugged him around the ways and buried her face in his chest.
“I love you” Zhou Mi whispered into her hair “I don’t deserve you. You’re smart and kind and beautiful and-and-I’m just so sorry”
“It’s alright” Yayun repeated, giggling, a beautiful contrast to her red eyes.
“I love you” he whispered, leaning in until their foreheads were touching “so much”
Slowly their eyes fluttered closed and their lips met softly.
Everything was still. The stars paused in mid-twinkle, the earth stopped for a moment and the wind settled to a caressing breeze. There was nothing to distract them from each other and from their love. Everything was just right.
“I love you” Zhou Mi said when they pulled apart “so much”
“I love you too” Yayun replied.
With a blush on her face and her eyes shining brightly, she never looked more beautiful.
“Come on, we have a party to go to” Zhou Mi said after a while.
“Really? For who?”
“For you. I wasn’t really in China. I was busy preparing a surprise party for you”
“Oh” She said, her mouth forming into an ‘o’.
“Well” she said after recovering from the initial shock “We could always skip the party..”
“Why? Wou---“ but Zhou Mi was cut off by Yayun’s lips on his again.
“And besides you owe me anyway” she said mischievously as she pulled away.
“Really?” Zhou Mi said, playing along. “And how am I supposed to repay you?” he asked, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
“I have a few ideas” she said in a tone full of implications, trailing a hand gently on his arm.
“And what about the party?”
“Party-schmarty” Yayun breathed as she and Zhou mi once again kissed under the moonlit sky

“So are they still coming?” Tae Hee asked.
“Probably not” Ryeowook answered, looking at his watch “They’re 2 hours late”
“Can I go home now?” Xinyi asked who looked ready to kill.
“I guess we have to” Jia Mei said dejectedly.
“Yea….” Yesung said absentmindedly, hugging his girlfriend from behind.
“Gross” Tae Hee grimaced.
