a month of saturdays

You'd think abortion providers in North Carolina would be targeted all the time. But we must be especially lucky in the Triangle because the apparently the antis only come out for 40 Days for Life. Which is starting up again in a couple of weeks. This time they're targeting the clinic in Chapel Hill ( Read more... )

This is the time to suggest a "Pledge-a-Picket" drive to your local clinic.

1) Get people to sign up to donate X amount per protester per day.
2) Have someone take a picture of the protesters every day, to use as the official count. (Or just use their own estimate, which will be overstated.)
3) Put a prominent sign in the front window thanking the protesters for raising money for the clinic; update it every day with the amount raised. I suggest using one of those "thermometer" graphics.
4) Issue a press release before the 40 Days of Terrorism describing what you're going to be doing, and another one afterwards saying how much money you raised.

This is an amazingly effective tactic. It completely killed a large anti-abortion protest march in Nashville in just 2 years.

Secondary thought: the drive in Nashville was organized by the local chapter of NOW, so the clinic may want to coordinate with them.

Talked a local Planned Parenthood rep today. She said this is something many clinics do, but the one here isn't interested. Too bad, it was a great idea. Thanks for suggesting it!

p.s. you could totally make fetus cookies for both occasions! although I guess that's kind of a pro life thing to do. on the other hand, you could eat them in front of the anti's and make them go really nuts. /sick

oh my god, that's hilarious. Probably wouldn't make the clients feel good, but we could have them afterwards to celebrate a job well done!
