I want a new laptop.  I've only ever had my Dell pc, but I want either a Macbook or a Tablet pc.
This is the tablet I'm considering.  I think I only want a mac because it's pretty, and a friend of mine says that everyone he knows with a mac hates the os.  I'm also not super fond of Safari, but...macs are pretty, and more powerful, and less ( Read more... )

i like the mac os. pre-tiger the os used to be cumbersome, but it's really a lot better now. also firefox 2.0 will run, so you won't need use safari. i would go mac, but i'm a mac person.

What word processing program do you use? I have a lot of paper writing in my future.

you can use apple works. but the truth is microsoft office is pretty inescapable, (macs do come loaded with the apple version of office). really it would be an issue with any computer you buy, unless you switch to a web based word processor.

A friend of mine said that every time she restarted the computer, files were all rearranged on the hard drive, she couldn't find programs, and then later they'd come back.. essentially just shit disapearing and reappearing.

Does that sound at all familiar, or is that a problem that only she appears to be having?

If you want to avoid the use of Microsoft Office, I can point you in the direction of some other options. One suite that I've used before that I've found quite handy (and that I can make you a copy of if I can find my disks) is Corel. It's similar to MS-Office, but not quite as horri. There are a few things that have a different feel to it, but is still easy to navigate ( ... )

Hi just visited and I was just looking at Tablets yesterday so I thought I'd say hi. I say go with the Tablet. You can handwrite your notes on your computer, which is perfect for classes.

they have a great interactive tool that lets you check out what you can do with the tablet at toshiba. http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/ebtext.to?page=tabletMicro&seg=HHO&seg=HHO&sel=1

so much fun!
