Regarding Randy Weaver -- at the time it happened it received an awful lot of publicity, but unfortunately a lot of people simply bought into the gov't account of the episode. Latch on to a copy of Gerry Spence's (Weaver's defense attorney) book From Freedom to Slavery and read the chapter on Weaver.

Gerry Spence got him acquitted on all the serious charges (only a bogus charge of failure to appear was left standing), and ultimately Randy Weaver & his kids won a large settlement from the gov't.

One other little problem: Your time-line is off. The siege at Ruby Ridge occurred in 1992 during Bush I. It was, however, Clinton's DOJ under Janet Reno that bungled the prosecution & was sanctioned for fabricating evidence.

WACO, on the other hand, was a 100% a Clinton/Reno debacle. :(
