So I'm at work eating lunch which means I can take some time to myself and think about what I need to get done in my personal life. Oh my good God, I have SO much to do.
This weekend Jared and I got our Bedroom Set! YAY! New mattress, sleigh bed, dresser w. mirror, armoire, and nightstand. We ordered our set and the guy told us, "good news it's in stock, would you like it next weekend?" WOAH. Hang on a minute there, NEXT weekend. As in 6 days from now? Yeah, that's WAY too soon. We need to take his Bedroom stuff out, then move his office stuff in the front room. Not to mention clean the floors and walls then paint. We actually have to buy the paint too [and pick out the color(s)]. So we had him postpone it to the middle of May which means it'll probably arrive a week or 2 later. That's ok, still fast, but we can paint and move furniture fairly quickly.
Then there's the Wedding. We hit the 5 month mark on Monday. Now we can say we're getting married in less than 5 mos. Yeah, this is getting pretty nerve-racking. We were FINALLY able to pick out a florist, so that's cool. We need to have our Engagement photo taken but for that to happen the Boston Gardens need to be in bloom and while that will happen soon, it's not now. Meaning that'll be something else to do in May. May is a HORRID month for my family. There's b-days, anniversaries, appointments and visits. I have a feeling that not a lot of wedding stuff will be accomplished in May and then it'll be 3.5 months and I'll be incredibly stressed. Planning your own wedding is hard. There's people to call or that call you. Payments to mail. The budget is the absolute most ridiculous part. The day of the wedding I'm sure everything will assemble itself into a satisfactory event, I won't care, I'll be too giddy to. It's what comes before that day that's crazy.
Things on my list that I want to get done in the next month - 2 months:
- find favors for the guests
- engagement photo (newspaper announcements)
- figuring out our menu (and ultimately how much this is really gonna cost us)
- finish the invitations (at least have them designed and printed)
- update the registries
- call hairstylists/makeup artists that aren't insanely priced
- Buy my gown accessories
- Look into Ceremony options before we meet with the priest
- Look at cake designs
- Buy birthday, etc. gifts for all my May things
- Work on our bedroom
Other stuff that I need to start considering soonish:
- Honeymoon stuff - what the hell am I bringing?
- What the actual setup of the ceremony and reception will be - including placement of the chairs/flowers/people.
- Will we be giving out-of-towners gifts?
- What gifts should we give to our attendants/family
- Booking my first fitting in July
- Giving the attendants their dresses when they're delivered in July
This is so CRAZY. There's SO much to do. I think I just need to sit down with my Wedding checklist and start scheduling things in days. I've been trying to start working on the invitations for the past 3 days, have I? No. The invitation is designed, I have the paper, I could at least print them out.
So besides being wicked busy with work and the Wedding, I've been trying to get in shape. I have lost 10 lbs so far since Jan and I know that's not a lot, but it's permanent, I haven't gained any of it back. I thought I was hitting a wall, but today I was able to go up a notch on my belt. My trainer told me in Jan that lbs may not fall off but you'll know progress by how your pants fit you. I think that's a good sign that more lbs may be coming off soon. I just need to stop giving in to some cravings, like nacho cheese and jalapeno poppers. I've been awesome with alcohol. I haven't had any in weeks. And before I picked up that growler a couple of weeks ago, it had been months since I'd had anything to drink. So I'm sure that's helping with the weight. I just bought running shoes yesterday. I never had good sneakers and I was tired of not being able to run or jog because of my shoes, so I went to DSW yesterday and bought the most comfortable (and within my price range) shoe I could find. I'm wearing them now and they're great. I don't think I'll really need to "wear them in." I REALLY want to try them out with a jog or a run very soon. If my body wasn't being such a girl at the moment, I'd try today. I'm hoping by the end of the week I'll be able to. Hopefully, I'll be able to maintain a steady run and can spend about 90mins a week doing that. Apparently running is one of the fastest ways to lose weight. I just hope I'm in shape enough to be able to run, at least jog. I never did any H.S. or college sports, so I don't know how well this will turn out.
In other news, Monday was Marathon Monday here in Boston. I live right on the route in Brookline. Luckily my boss granted me the day off since traffic getting home (and to work) would have been a nightmare. I have pics up that I can show people if they want to. Just IM me and I'll show you.
I also want to start working on my site again. Not necessarily re-design, because I like what I have up there now, just add pages to it. My portfolio has been barren for long enough I think.
Ok, Lunch is definitely over now so I should start working again. Later :)
