I need a new computer

I've been doing wedding invitations for the past 6 weeks. Designing them has been SUCH a hassle. My computer at home can't run more than 2 programs at the same time and the performance definitely suffers. At work I can have photoshop, illustrator, flash, rhapsody, AIM, lotus notes and IE open all at the same time and you couldn't tell any ( Read more... )

I have CS1, but I can probably find CS2 with relative ease for you. I also think I've got a handle on Studio MX. Because I'm just so sweet.

Also, I would almost suggest building your own, as much as you are adverse to it. Going with an out of the box bullshit thing from one of the big companies may not give you what you want. If it's a matter of case and motherboard, might i suggest looking at mwave.com. They have decent prices on mobo/ram/processor combos and they do hardware testing before shipping which greatly reduces issues that may arise with the hardware. I've shopped with them for years and have 10 or 12 computers out there that are powered by MWave purchased hardware.

hmm, it's very tempting. I'm not adverse to building persay, it's more of a time/money issue thing. I'll definitely take a look at the site.

phew, excuse me. *ahem*

also, i built my system for $800 using just mwave.com, i have a 3.2 p4, 1GB ram, a decent motherboard, (i bought a sound card from owen), an 80GB HD, and a DVD burner. and then $300 for a cute (flat) little (sort of) monitor. but i put my components on my damn self. ;) no offense boog0r

see, i'm a sucker for a mac at this point in particular, because they can now run both pc & mac software. sheer fabulousness.

james's laptop is on its way out, and since he needs specifically a laptop for work, we are contemplating saving for a macbook. granted, they are just over $1000, but for portability & being able to run windows & mac - perfect.

but, everyone's needs and preferences are different.

good luck!

I also agree with building your own. I recommend www.newegg.com . They always have good deals, sales, and the such. They ship ontime at the least. Most of the time, it is early. My other suggestion is to do your research about building and then just go out and do it. You will learn a great deal. I have. Any questions, you guys know you can always ask me. Feel free.
