Look at it the other way round: you're 52 and there'll come a time when you won't have the energy or health to take off to live on a tropical island. Make the most of it while you've got it - whatever "it" may be.
A custom designed tropical treehouse with two luxury composting toilets? Wow!
It's easy for me to be enthusiastic because there's no way I'd have the courage for such an adventure. I'd be worried if you weren't having a few doubts. It is a very big change but I'm sure that you'll cope.
Have you thought about writing a book about it? Semi-biography type thing?

Am I crazy for wanting my own composting toilet? Maybe, but the strangest things make us happy. I will probably write- sort of in the Lord Byron mode- you know his quote- 'If I don't write to empty my mind, I go mad'. Of course, I may already be mad! Who knows? I'm determined to make it longer than Gauguin, though.
