Planning for my accidental death in Sequoia National Park

I’m writing this on the front porch of cabin number 1 at Grant’s Grove, King’s Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The cabins are very quaint, with shake roofs and uneven floors. it's really tempting to ascribe human motivations to the way the trees grow close together- they give a strong impression of wanting company, needing each other to thrive, leaning on each other. The fire marks were very noticable, especially around the big trees who were sheltering lots of babies, and the info signs described very clearly the role of fire in the regeneration- opening the cones, preparing the ground, etc.
We drove down out of the mountains and were able to see the different vegetation so clearly as the altitude changed.
