Book Meme

What? Are you sick of seeing this super-long meme everywhere? Sorry. ^^;

1. What author do you own the most books by?
Um ... probably Susan Saunders, the author of the Sleepover Friends series. I have like 50 of those.

2. What book do you own the most copies of?
When I was a kid I bought three copies of Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule because I loved it so much: the hardcover, the book club edition, and the paperback. Two of them were "borrowed" by my friends and never returned. xP

3. What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
I have no secrets!

But I do hope that Gale from Hunger Games dies a horrible death. So you can probably see a preference there ... ^^;

4. What book have you read more than any other?
Um ... mine? While I was editing it? LOL.

5. What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
Probably a Sleepover Friends book. See my childhood horizons, not expanding. ;)

6. What is the worst book you’ve read in the past year?
You'd have to hand me a bag of gold to get me to reveal that.

7. What is the best book you’ve read in the past year?
Hunger Games was my fave book of '08.

8. If you could tell everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
Only one? Read a volume of Batman Chronicles. :)

9. What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?
Pushkin's Евгений Онегин (Eugene Onegin). I had to translate every line into choppy prose. I was not getting the effect of the poetry. It was too hard. I had to give up. *sadbrokenbrainface*

10. Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
RUSSIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. Shakespeare, Milton or Chaucer?
All of the above.

12. Austen or Eliot?
Crap, I was reading over that burning barrel to keep my hands warm, and just dropped all these Austen and Eliot books into the flames! What a tragic accident!

13. What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Biggest gap? British literature. Not embarrassed by it, tho. There are billions of books. Everyone should read what they like, because there's no way anyone will read them all. You have a better chance of catching all the Pokemon.

14. What is your favorite novel?
The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu.

15. Plays?
Hamlet!

16. Poem?
I really like Tristram by Edwin Arlington Robinson.

17. Essay?
Buh?

18. Non Fiction
Off the top of my head I would rec 1066 by David Howarth.

19. Graphic Novel?
Runaways!!!! by Brian K. Vaughan, Adrian Alphona, & Christina Strain. I have a whole post of graphic novel recs waaaaay back in the archives ...

20. Science Fiction?
Unwind by Neal Shusterman was pure awesome.

22. Fantasy?
If it's fantasy, I will probably read it. Um. With some exceptions. Sorry, Harry.

23. Who is your favorite writer?
I don't think I have a favorite. I have favorite books, but there is no one writer whose every book pwns my soul. I have a love/hate relationship with Dostoevsky. The bloat in his novels drives me up a wall; the emotional hysteria/madness wins me back.

24. What are you reading right now?
Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson, and I love it. ♥

25. Favorite Genre:
Fantasy. Especially if it's a mostly normal/modern world with weird sh*t in it. I like it when characters wear jeans instead of wool stockings and burlap. And no one can be named Quellawyna Lighthope. I have had my fill of that.
