You are vacationing wrong if you take the computer to Chicago.

You could take it but then give it to your hostess and ask her to only let you have it for, like, an hour in the evenings. And then if you tried to run over, she could turn the wifi off.

That way you can focus on enjoying the city/meat/burlesque/art/shopping/etc. and the trip will actually serve the purpose of a vacation. Which is this thing where you don't work.

I am just saying, is all.
