In some ways I have been very lucky, in that I have never been sexually assaulted at LRP. I’ve been on the receiving end of the same kind of low level sexual harassment that many women receive just because they live on this planet, but not the serious, threatening kind of harassment. Posting on here rather than fb. Only time I got upset about attitudes was as a 20 yr old when I was ic raped, didn't realise until afterwards, (and had 'stuff' I could've done if I wasnt so ooc shocked). My character lost her abilities. I was very naive and young and stopped playing that game but I'm still shocked it was seen as Ok.

In the defence of the game writers they had a 'special' where they delved into my mind and got my powers back but I didn't really play that game again. I don't think it's a comfortable subject to play with.

Generally I've not found it an issue.

I remember having an angry rant about the same thing in - what was it - 1993? I think by the time I stopped playing NV the message had just about got through there.
How depressing that over twenty years later the issues persist. On the other hand, I'm a little optimistic because at least now they can be raised.

I do think things have improved. There is a higher ratio of women in LRP than there was back in the 90s.
There's been a lot of talk about this recently, which a friend has described as 'lancing the boil' - horrible, but necessary for long term improvement. I hope he's right.
