Odyssey HOTS
Too many people to tag... Apologies if I've missed you.
- Hotel room and hiring a PD bell for a group tent was DEFINITELY a good call. So was ditching the armour, going non-combatant for the rest of the night, slapping on a heat pack and swathing myself in layers to keep that heat in. Turns out self-care is big and clever.
- Pre-event squee when
Belle Epoque showed me the magic armour. THE LORICA OF RIDEA. SQUEEEEE! My dead arsehole character is a magic item!
- Personal crisis after the loss of my god, culminating in sulkingly throwing the cult ring across the strategy table. Apparently my RP of drunk was convincing enough that when I claimed the inevitable RP hangover I was offered real painkillers :)
- The way Rome came up with its final vision. So Roman. I realised the slight error on it the next morning, but it was way too late by then. We need to spend some time explaining properly!
- Lucretia! It was LUCRETIA!!!! Oh my, fan-Romaning so hard! The moment when she clocked what I had on the hilt of my sword! The moment when I lent her my sword because I had hers! EEEEEEEEEEE! When she told me not to follow her example but to set her own!!!!!
Chiara Mac- A kind of metaphorical re-bonding with the Ducks over Lucretia.
Mike Hough,
Graham Beesley,
Ade Malone,
Maz Wilberforce. I feel certain cats are so far out of certain bags that they barely even remember being in the bag!
- The Serviliae! You are a lovely bunch.
Jessica Aldwin,
Chris Parr,
Ben Addy,
Dana Koellner.
- Getting squashed for Roma. I had my lovely family briefed that if they offered equal numbers / one to one fights we'd do that, but if they decided to steamroller us, we would make as good an accounting of ourselves as possible. I feel we acquited ourselves well, and achieved a two-finger salute to the light titan at the same time!
- Alexander! You magnificent bastard you! Would definitely clasp wrists and defy again.
Harry Cattes you have an excellent line in Punchable Smug Grin.
- Politics with Persia. Ups and Downs is an understatement.
Mark Waz Bretherick.
- The quest to Sikandergul. Not quite what I was expecting, but still worthwhile! I'm glad I went.
- Eppi! You made Poppaea cry, damn you! You made Poppaea lose her composure and eloquence! I mean, it wasn't soggy Mithraen levels, but there were definitely a few tears. Rejecting a hug from Craigus, "Please don't hug me, I will shatter into a thousand pieces. Please let me handle this in my own way". I am pleased with the inspiration that caused me to open my eulogy with "In which other nation is Eppi's story possible? Born a slave, buried a senator?"
Katherine,
Craig- A conversation with Livia about how very little time I'd ever spent on my own, which I later followed up when I interrupted a ballgowning moment with the words "Sorry, it turns out I am very bad at being on my own, especially at the moment".
Katie Cattes,
Michael Chester- "We are very similar, you and I" to Omid.
Joe and I have previously discussed those similarities.
- Discussions with Darya in the stands about the visions and living under them versus fighting for them.
Christina Liston- The conversation with Amara which turned into a shared confession session.
Kate Verity Robins- Tullia. Oh my, Tullia! From the discussion with HP to telling Manius I thought it was time to learning about her death the next morning. "Excuse me, it appears I am wearing the wrong colour tunica".
Maz Wilberforce- Aemilia's funeral and getting to relay her description of herself as 'a horror tale to set an example for children' as an example of her many services to Rome.
Lizy Cattes- Neatly side stepping Aquila when she broke down into hysterics and letting Livia deal with it. Poppaea's not good at touchy feely.
Emz Parkin- Ludus Magnus! Such a fine display of skill and dedication to training.
- Discussion with Calliope, clarifying the vision and asking her to pass on the clarifications if she heard people discussing the mis-interpretation...
Ninfa Sferlazzo-Hayes Odyssey neutrals
- My trousers wouldn't stay up properly because of weight loss. Good but a pain for the event :)
- Failing to pre-plan Saturday night's meet up plan with David, meaning I went looking for an unfindable person.
- I am a little conflicted about this Titan of Love thing. Female goddesses merging into a Titan of Love? It's a bit trite.
Odyssey NOTS
- the fucking rain storm on Friday night. I was lucky, I had a warm and dry place to go and sleep, I had multiple costume changes in a reliably waterproof tent*, the PD hired group tent got some water in the entrance that I had stupidly left open but that only affected the groundsheet, but even so, it was HORRIBLE. Standing under the impromptu rain-shelter-testudo just directed the rain down the middle of my back, down my tunic, down my trousers, and RIGHT INTO MY UNDERPANTS. Stepping onto what looked like ground but was actually a massive puddle deeper than my boots meaning I got a soaking wet foot.
- The language stuff I have already posted about.
- That my friends kept getting hurt for real, all in accidents, but still not good.
*That tent gave me several years of good service, and will hopefully give Jess several more years worth. Those solid framed 70s tents really don't quit!
