red gown woes

well, washing the silk went quite awry. I had to wash it because it was dusty (achoo!) and there were a few spots on it. but now it's just not what I want. it would probably be more appropriate for a pretty nightgown - it's that much lighter now.

argh! this sucks.

anyone seen some nice red silk satin around recently?

Rather than chuck it, have you thought about taking it to a cleaners? You could ask them to professionally press it with light starch and that should give it back a lot of the crisp body it had before washing. :-)

What do you have to lose?

Is it lighter in color, or is the body of it gone? Could you dye it back, if it's the former?

Sorry to hear that!

You probably don't want to hear this right now, but in the future if you have dusty fabric that could be damaged/changed by washing, you can just throw it in the dryer on no heat and tumble most of the dust out of it :~)
