Blåtoner

I just got back from a concert-thingy given by one of the ladies in my band. She has a musical group called Blåtoner (bluenotes), which is compised of 3 women (2 professional nurses and one professional gospel singer). The women in this group get together to talk about all the sorrows in their life, death, depression, suicide,etc. They then write ( Read more... )

You're not supposed to be OK with death right now. We're young. We all secretly believe we're immortal. Death is nature's way of spoiling the party. But it does mean we should make it a point to talk to your grandfather next month if he's in a talking mood.

I wasn't predicting his imminent demise, I just meant we should make sure to ask about his life and tales of sorrow or happiness.

Death can wait. It will get here soon enough. The pews would have done it for me, but the singing definitely would have put me over the edge. Life is too wonderful and rich -- depression is fine for putting a little contrast into the picture, but it's a waste to make it a dominant theme. Hey!, this week a Mesa assistant fire chief was caught molesting his neighbor's sheep!
