I completely understand where you are coming from. One of my best friends is from Canberra and he gets so much grief over it haha. It's ok if you can laugh about it which he does but I just find it almost insulting how it appears to be a judgement on his character rather than any other attribute that's just as obvious. Myself am a "Shire" girl - which would seem to indicate I am an uneducated and sheltered member of southern Sydney. I just find it funny that social labels derive from your geographical location instead of the personality and upbringing you actually have ( ... )

Loved this week’s entry Sarah! Western Suburbs girl hey? I have the most appropriate story that goes with your live journal entry. I live in the north shore, but I have been going out with my boyfriend for 2 and a half years who lives in the western suburbs... and the reaction to some girls in my school - north shore princess’s (another stereotype)- ha-ha, was that Adam wasn’t up to their standards - when really he probably was more mature and classy.
It’s funny the way the world works -
Wish it would not be so judgmental on groups but instead look at individuality!
