Tonight Graeme and I headed out to the U-District (the area near the U-Dub University of Washington for those in the know) to experience our first of six cooking courses

I have to agree with your choice not to buy a garlic peeler, garlic isn't hard to peel by hand, smash with knife and cut up. :)

Did an "Applause" sign periodically light up during this "cooking class", because if so I would venture to guess that you were duped into paying to attend the taping of an infomercial.
