There is a news clip on the TWU Local 213 website showing TWU picketers and BC Federation of Teachers picketing in front of BC Transit bus headquarters. They were picketing because BC Transit busses continued to display TELUS ads ( Read more... )

Hmm.. I figured that about the contract. :P When union leaders say a contract offer gives the compnay flexibility in any way.. be suspicious. :P

As for the strike in BC.. most bus riders are commuters that won't lose their jobs if they're late. They have cars or know folks that do, etc. But talk to the ones who's livelihoods depend on the bus.. and the poor who have no other choice. These people always get shafted due to someone else's dispute. I don't think they're too happy.

It was a bit of an inconvenience, and I was certainly glad to have my car to get me home from work that morning, I know if would have pissed me off a little bit to be stuck and have to take an expensive cab ride home when cash is tight... But I still very much resepect the TWU and BCTF for their stance in things, it takes a great deal of guts to stick up for ones self when even the law is against you.
