Cow births are rather interesting. I agree. Kinda freaky the first time though.

certainly something you will always remember.. they are soo cute when they are just born, well maybe an hour later when the mother has cleaned them and stuff.. hehe watching them learn to stand on all fours and walk is funny :o)

It is. I dated a rancher for a year and saw loads of this. Helping castrate them 6 months later is NOT cool though.

Just be thankful the first calf that you watched being born... was born properly! The first one i ever saw had died inside its mother a few hours earlier and i had to chop off its head and pull it out with fence strainers... supprising it didnt put me off farming!! You will enjoy trying to feed it... if you do that it is apian in the ARSE!! Have fun in the snow!

hehe lots of stories of cows not being born properly, dont think i would watch if it wasn't going to be a "normal" birth!!

i actually have done the feeding thing, mother ditched her cow in a snow bank and wanted nothing to do with it .. so the feeding with the bottle every amount of hours started.. grandpa usually does it except when he goes to cards so that left me .. hehe she is now my cow, her name is Anabell, shes huge now though and a mother to her own, which she thankfully feeds!!!

What is normal on a farm?? I qas trying to show a new guy how a calf is pulled, he said do you want me to catch it.... WTF!!! I just had to hold in the laughter! I was once that GREEN!

every few hours?? we only feed ours morning and night 2 litres!! At least you have a kinder heart for the animals and giving them decent names!!

Mine are called Meat loaf, Milky bar kid, Big red, T bone, Chuck steak and Beef stew!!
