How'd you manage to get canadian residency?

I applied for residency as a common law partner with Bill as my sponsor, we had to prove we had lived together for a year and that we were in a commited relationship, which was easy enough to do.. we did all the paper work and stuff and put the application in back in October and it was all done by January.. guess we got lucky because it wasn't surposed to be through till like May.. but it is and now i just have to pick a date to head there
