Since last we spoke, I finished the Lynburn Legacy series, wrote
an article on sexism in the Toast (super excited to be hosted by the Toast, and Malinda Lo wrote an awesome companion article about homophobia as well as sexism), and went on tour round England with Holly Black

... aaaaaugh the attack is nervewracking though. SO NERVEWRACKING. Elliot, you idiot, YOU ALMOST DIED. ;o; ... but now you get besmirched by Serene so that worked out all right. :D

Elliot weighed the risk and reward, and admittedly, he did get more of a reward than he expected...

Normally when reading I click with one or a few characters, so it's pretty fantastic to like all of them so much. Well, with the exception of Mr Sexual Harrassment Is A Great Dating Strategy. Actually the one thing I'm uncomfortable with is that Elliot still seems to think of that incident as something he, Eliot, did wrong ( ... )

Serene is the Object of Elliot's Affections, and so necessarily mysterious to him as he is afflicted by not knowing more of her feelinz, and also guesses and second-guesses and worries he's projecting his own desires on her. (And he may well be.) But they are all growing up and getting to know each other better and will continue to do so, she says circumspectly.
I think Elliot doesn't think he did something wrong to Adam... he's sorry he upset Luke but doesn't feel that bad about Adam, and is in fact glad he was punched in the face by a mystery assailant, shocking, violence is so dreadful. ;)

I had never thought of Serene in terms of jdrama or kdramas, but I am very glad you enjoyed the YB recap (I had fun watching and writing it!) and I am always interested to know people's ships and perspectives. ;)
I had fun working out the parameters of Elliot's pacifism, though Luke might not agree that he doesn't make idiotic and suicidal decisions. I'm glad they're working for you: pacifism is tricky in this environment but that's why it's fun...

Serene, she knows it is a lady's duty to safeguard a gentleman's virtue, when they are wayward creatures, weak of will, and their virtue is their greatest treasure!
I hoped Luke's coming out scene would strike people as in-character but surprise them as well. ;) (Though many of you had guessed what was what with Luke long before, as you are a perspicacious bunch!)
It isn't structured like a book--all serial-y and episodic as it is--but it is going to be book-length, I admit! I am so glad you are filled with delight.

Also I liked how he totally distracted Elliot from sassing the teacher. Even though Elliot was obviously correct, his behaviour to his elders must be a constant source of despair to Luke.
(But yeah, I totally have feels for Elliot. So confused! Trying so hard not to make everything about himself, but still so hurt and bewildered, and viciously reminding himself that Luke DOESN'T LIKE HIM (oh Elliot, you have no idea how wrong you are) before completely forgetting again, and just acting like he and Luke are friends. Because they are.)
