Happy Valentines Day! i finally have someone to celebrate vday with this year...and you know what that means....yep, tonight i'm cramming for a damn psychopharmacology exam! this test is going to make me cry. like, i think i'll bring a box of tissues with me. it's such a confusing class. I just took a test this past Friday on psychopharm stuff... the nerd in me is curious what all you're studying.

We covered the antipsychotics (typical and atypical), mood stabilizers, antidepressants, benzodiazepines, etc.

Any of it sound familiar?

hey...yeah, so we're starting out at the basics: nerve cells, parts of the brain, etc...then we got into action potentials and how signals are carried thru the body...we covered some specific neurotransmitters, how drugs can interfere with communication between nerve cells, routes of administration (intravenous, subcutaneous, etc), and then got into doses...like safety margin, therapeautic index, ect...

i'm hoping that once we get into specific drugs it'll get more interesting.

but yeah...this class is known as a killer...i hope yours is better!

Man, that crap is totally medical microbiology crap... another stupid class with a long name like pathophysiology.

Hey! Psychopharmacology! The only reason I passed that course is because that's the semester I met (my) Chris, who was a science major and had the highest grade in the class. The prof. was Scottish and I couldn't understand anything he was saying (yeah, a Scottish guy in New Mexico--go figure). And one day he brought in a brain in a bucket, and kept daring us to try to punch through the dura--"See, you can't! That's one tough membrane!" Good times ( ... )
