It looks like you can open them in MS word or a program called abiword.

If you dont' have MS word and aren't too shy about your work, I have MS word and can open them and save as a .doc or a .txt for you. you can PM me and I'll fire back my email address.

that's wonderful, thank you! I wasn't even going to start looking for a program yet, there's so much on my plate. Unfortunately I'm using word now and it wouldn't open them. I used wp as long as I could, until it became clear everyone else was switching over. I still like wp better. This will help immensely. Thank you!
