Yeah, it is all so odd and disappointing when you try to have a discussion with religious people of that nature. Like, in a good discussion points are raised, logic is employed, and people are using their own words and thoughts to express themselves. If someone imports a batch of scripture and dogma, to me it is like an unwanted stranger that gets in the way or something. It seems so proper that you would look at a bunch of views and come to your own way of thinking rather than looking to 1 particular ancient book and trying to bend yourself to fit within its dictates and so on. Or those people who feel obliged to constantly justify their beliefs against it, pretend that it says what they believe. Every moments they spend in a conversation dealing with that feels like a diversion
