i heard that a WIRED magazine article reportred something like 7 terra-watts of potential wind energy on the earth, were we to put those fan thingies everywhere - and that this is a very conservative estimate.

7 terra-watts is supposedly around 70% of all the energy we currently use already through other means ... and this is from a technology we already knows works and is in practice.

my math is fuzzy but it seems like we're missing out on some pretty big opportunities.

yeah- but its one of those double edged metal things that people used to swing at each other because it takes alot of energy to produce the materials to set up the fans, not to mention ship them there and maintenance them etc.

Windmills have to be big to be effective, and making them so big would use alot of energy- energy that is currently beings wasted/ wasting the environment.

i hate this place. why cant anyone do anything right?
