Interesting and good read on analyzing that 'poster'. I liked it, and I find myself wishing I could have analyzed it more deeply myself. Perhaps with more reading like this, it'll come eventually. I just don't consciously think that way when I see advertising/read things/see stuff like this.
Yeah, I don‘t really agree with it either. For one, as much as I hate to admit it, Bella is from a work of fantasy fiction and thus, “geeky“ so that doesn‘t really work sadly.
Although I do have to disagree with the comments in the blog at least as regards Aeryn, Zooey, and Dax. It‘s true that in the pictures shown they are posed much more modestly but all three are characters (particularly Dax) who are incredibly comfortably with their femininity and sexuality while still being strong, capable, kick-ass characters.
However the blog IS right that geek culture really can‘t be pointing fingers at this stage, particularly, as mentioned, in regards to portrayals of women in most comics.
