I believe I've come across one somewhere with the names/photo thing.... it was about IDing job applicants and how things like a gender neutral name affected things or how a 'foreign' (i.e. non-English) name affected impression. I never saved it, though I recall reading it somewhere...

IDK if it's the same one, but Phillip Oreopoulos did an experiment he published in 2009 where he replied to online job postings with 6000 resumes -- some with "foreign"-sounding names -- to see what would happen. Here's an article on the study.
