wow, thanks for your post to my question on the law students forum. So you think it is worth it for me to go to USC and forego the scholarship? If it weren't about the money, I would choose USC, handsdown. I would love to go there. A couple quick questions if you have a minute: will I be able to get grad student housing at this late date? Will I have opportunites to get grants/scholarships for my 2nd year? Thank you so much!!!

I'm not really sure about the grad students housing. Is there a specific reason you want that instead of finding your own place? Unless you are going to be car less my recommendation would be to live in non-university housing. I haven't seen Terrace (where all the law students live) myself, but I haven't heard much good about it.

As for financial aide in the 2L year I doubt you'd get something from the school but there might be private grants/scholarships you could get. There are grants some students get during the summer if they are working in a public interest internship (I think it is $4500 for the summer between 1st & 2nd year).

Thank you! So I found out that grad student housing is full, anyway. So can you recommend a good place to live (I have 2 cats...)? Also, how bad IS the traffic in the city. I am thinking about living in Pasadena, mapquest says its 14.46 miles and 21 minutes.....is that about right? Thanks again!

Pasadena is probably a bit more than 21 minutes in the morning, maybe more like 30-40, but it would depend on where in Pasadena. If you are in South Pas area more (near the 110 freeway) it would help. Most students commute at least 1/2 an hour (unless they live in student housing).

Personally I live in the Torrance area, which seems far, but luckily I can easily take the bus which makes my commute about 35 minutes and I can read the whole time.

People tend to live all over, with a lot in the mid-city to west hollywood area. Some live downtown area too.
