So I'm pretty sure I had a memory. That's what those crystals are for, right? I wish I could have looked at it more, but it's gone. I think I dropped it under the freezer at work

[He's waiting around at home, wondering exactly how he'll approach this. He doesn't know for sure that it was Marbles in his memory, but her voice was dead on, and from the way tons of shiny things had started appearing in their house, he wasn't too sure it wasn't her.
In the meantime, he's experimenting on how far he can reach with the spear. He's currently sitting at the kitchen table, trying to stab a piece of toast lying on the counter.]
[Marbles bounces in the door in high spirits, trailing several feet of scarf behind her and stamping snow off her boots.]
I thought you said you were at work! I went all the way there and they told me you--
[She sees him mangling his lunch and pauses with one boot off in her hand and one stocking foot kicked up in the air, balancing on the other, booted one. She tilts her head, puzzled.]
Hey, um, is the toast a terrible threat from your past life? Or did it just look at you funny? 'Cause I think that counts as cruel and unusual punishment.
[He stops trying to stab the toast and looks over at her. Sigh. Here went everything.]
I finished up early and closed the shop. We didn't have any late orders.
[Wolf sets the spear aside and stands up from the table.]
I just had this weird memory and I thought I should tell you. [He scratches the back of his head. This is so awkward...] I know just because we were born here together, it doesn't really mean anything but... [Another sigh.] You were in my memory. I heard your voice.
[Oh. Oh. There had been a few more really good toast jokes on the tip of Marbles' tongue, but they all dissolve like spun sugar in the face of what he's just said.]
Oh.
[She stands frozen for a long moment, staring at him with wide dark eyes. For a second, she looks...lost. A little shocked. She isn't sure what to make of this information for a second--nothing in her memory quite answers to it, and it's not like they look alike at all, but--but--she realizes suddenly and fiercely that she wants this. She wants it to be true, wants her persnickety fussy dumb brother to really belong to her with the same itch that makes her put baubles in her pocket in the Bazaar, except so much more so.]
Really? [As she says it, hesitant but pleased, her face and eyes start to light up with a goofy-bright grin.] You're not kidding me around, right? I mean, I don't think you would do that to me, but I did kind of charcoal-fry breakfast the other day so it's not like I don't have something coming...
Yeah... [More awkward. He's dressed in a crazy outfit, with an obviously fake beard that wouldn't come off, and he's trying to explain to his amnesia-stricken sister that he had some kind of memory where he heard her voice. It sounds even weirder than he played out in his head.]
No, I wouldn't make it up, it's way too weird to be made up. But! [Now he finds his accusing 'I'm Older So I'll Tell You What To Do' voice!] You - well, assuming it's you - stole something. A scroll. From pirates. Pirates who then tried to kill us.
[He's hoping against hope that it sounds familiar to her, and he's building up a 'Stealing is Wrong' lecture just in case.]
....omg FAIL TAG I'm sorry OTLviva_la_materiaJanuary 28 2011, 05:00:23 UTC
....s....stole? [Good feeling gone. Marbles instinctively puts both her mittened hands behind her back, then realizes this looks terribly suspicious and shoves them in her pockets instead and tries to stand there looking casual.]

[Pause.]
So what's so important that it can't wait till after work?

Okay, I'll be there soon! I'm just lugging some junk around anyway.
