So liek...

it's too gorgeous a day to do anything like rant, piss and moan about politics (tho if mccain gets in i am seriously moving to canada cause that means the dems self-imploded in such a spectacular fashion that we get bush redux for 4 more years...), or just be in a general cranky sarcastic mood.

so! i bring links. cool links.

I can't believe the Space Invaders touched me so deeply!

And that elephant ... gah, I'm profoundly disgusted with the human race when I see something like that, and to know how we treat them.

Great link roundup there!

i know it! at first, i was laughing hysterically at how trippy the vid was, and then by the end i wanted to weep for what it said re: war.

*watches elephant vid again, just because*

Mr. McCain: (Laughs) "Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception - I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it."

This whole response is scary. What the hell kind of man is uninformed about one of the worst infections we've seen since 1918 and thinks he is capable of running for president. ICK.

oh, but it's the gay disease. it's not a problem for the heterosexual married couple. and since everyone's abstaining till marriage, well, let the sinners pay the price for their sins /megasnark

you know - i could appreciate mccain pre-prez run. of all the repugs, he was one of those that didn't just set my teeth on edge and make me want to scream and pull my hair out.

i wanted to scream, but no hair pulling.

now tho? he's become GB43 jr and it's disgusting.

yay earth hour supporter! *feels liks she needs an icon for that*

i have the lights off around here most of the time anywho - because i'm cheap, not so much the environment ;) but it's a nice side effect. however, it was -hard- during that hour cause i'd drank a bit too much coffee that day and well, my bathroom is an interior room with no windows. i just needed to flick on for a minute - but i didn't! i stuck to it.

any clue how many ended up participating? i never did see a guesstimate.

We do need Earth Hour icons and yay I can make some as I'll be back at my house in Waterloo today or tommorrow. I have Photoshop there.

I think I drank too much coffee too. We have a window but it was really dark out. Yay for peeing in the dark! I'm crazy ;D Yeah I'm cheap too being a uni student.

Hmm am checking the amount of people registered for it. Wow 292,478 people that's official and people are still adding themselves; and 20,482 businesses. Well that's pretty good.

It's been clear for quite a long time now that intelligence in other animals is more a matter of degree than of kind.

The "Spaced Invaders Family" reminded me the replicant's speech in Bladerunner, of how all the moments & experiences of his life would be lost with his death. Not a new insight, but one that must be constantly repeated, it seems.

Bumbling? It's become increasingly clear to me that the man's dangerously out of touch; time to retire & play with the grandkids.

i refuse to go to the gorilla house at the omaha zoo after the last time i went with my parents and just got spooked looking into the eyes of one of the gorillas and just feeling incredibly depressed after that (yeah, silly i know). and i won't watch dolphin shows cause darwin on seaquest has permanently etched their intelligence into my brain. ("Darwin loves Bridger." *sniffles at loss of roy ( ... )

Not so silly; I've been following animal, esp. primate, studies since I was in high school, & even back then it was clear that confinement in zoos wasn't good for any animal's mental health, & the more complex the animal, the worse. Many zoos have improved since then, but still ( ... )
