Ankle status has been upgraded from sprained to broken.  I have snapped my fibula.  Hooray!  Just in time for Emily's wedding.  I have a boot on now, plus crutches.

I am going to try to go to an orthopedic surgeon next week.  Anyone have recommendations?

I know, right? I went to go have x-rays taken, just in case - I really thought it was just sprained. They took one look and were like, uhhh this looks very bad.

Urgh. I've never broken anything before! Looks like I'll be off work for a while.

YUCK. :(
I've only had Kaiser my entire life, so unless you're with them, I have no recommendations [but I DO have excellent ortho and physical therapy recommendations for Kaiser - but only if you're in Orange County, haha!].

Jesus Jan!!! That sounds awful!

My mom actually just tore two tendons in her right foot (her driving foot) and had to be put in a HARD CAST for a month, and then who knows in what condition she'll be in for the wedding.

But i do know that, because of this, she's definitely in the know of all the good orthopedic people in the city so i'll get some referrals from her.

I like you a lot, so I'm adding you.

We can also be ankle twins. On the 19th I broke mine in three places (Tibia, and Fibula, and they had to remove a piece of one), Had surgery on the 20th. It totally sucks. *HUG* Feel better soon. (I'm also 32 weeks pregnant and stuck in a wheelchair because crutches aren't safe)

Yay, let's be friends!!! I am so sorry to hear about your ankle... how did you break it? My fibula is broken, but I went to an orthopedic surgeon today, and he said I actually don't need surgery, which is good. So I have a big heavy cast on my foot now. They let me pick the color, but I chose black - not in the mood for a hot pink cast quite yet :( I have to miss my childhood best friend's wedding this weekend because I can't fly in a cast :( But I'm so sorry you're stuck in a wheelchair!!! Poor you, I can't imagine how tough it would be to be pregnant AND have a broken ankle.

Hope you feel better soon, too!! Yay ankle twins!

I fell down the stairs, trying to avoid a naughty kitten. I chose a black cast too, mostly because A) they were out of white and B) I have a lot of black pants. I'm so sorry you have to miss the wedding. That totally sucks. How did you break yours?

I started boot camp to get in shape for my wedding, and I loved it, so I kept it up - my parents actually were so happy that I could do it (I have a chronic illness that sometimes makes me really tired) that they told me they would pay for it. I was doing step-ups, which I do ALL the time, and my ankle folded in, and I fell. I really just thought it was sprained, but oh well. My doctor had lots of colors, so in 2 weeks, when they replace the cast, I might change to another color.

Naughty kitten indeed!
