Tokyo is a complete contrast to Kyoto - all skyscrapers and neon and incessant bleeping noises.

Gods, I am *so* envious ... it sounds perfect. I NEED to go there...

Hope the rest of the trip is cool. Sydney is a wonderful city (but don't tell my sister I said that).

Our brief stay in Japan has been wonderful - it is a fascinating place and I would love to return one day, assuming I can conquer the terror of flying, of course.

Having actually got on the bloody things you have, in short, conquered it. You may never enjoy flying: I'm totally with you there. However, it's the only way to see the world and it does get easier. I think it was 2 years ago I took 12 separate flights in one year! I can squawk all I like (and I do), but it's conquered ;) I know this because I no longer have to be pissed to get on a plane!

We have a total of either seven or eight flights on this trip! I surprised myself by coping reasonably well with the ten hours between Seoul and Sydney - I guess I have Ed's mum's 5mg diazopam to thank for that. ;-)
