"Behold the collapse of civilization!"
... or "Feels like ethnical background is backstabbing me" (and sure is annoying)
Seems I'll most like to stop writing fanfiction.
Why? It's a simple and mostly stupid reason: Because I'm a latin girl who's writing about japanese characters And I'm feeling kind of down because of that
Lately, i've been watching anime (because i don't have internet to peacefully read manga) and I found myself with something. I can't write romance manga, as mostly japanese people are bound to subtleness, and sometimes subtleness along with emotional insecurities (oh! the fear of being rejected even if they DO know they have a chance to be with the one they love. Lovely bittersweet, but I sometimes is a little too much for me), makes my latin side say something in the lines of "don't you feel it? it's LOVE!" and adding to that, a pretty colorful "DAMMIT!" at the end, in complete frustration
Adding to that, because of the net of subtleness, they must find us, latin americans, they way we talk (and I remember one of my english teachers -from the US- she once got confuse once she heard a latin friend making a phone call to her home, because we latins are so excitable she couldn't know if her friend was happy or angry, and Spanish, with its harsh tone, isn't of much help. -God! I even heard somebody -can't remember who- saying "it's like hitting someone, with words, and not in an intellectual way"- makes one feel awful) scary. And adding to that I think japanese would probably feel awkward around latin americans, for us to be ... I don't know how to put it ... a little "touchy-feely"
And alas! all my knowledge about japan is just because of books (and most of them even haven't been wrote by japanese authors), anime, manga, movies and even some games (not doramas, because, as latin-American, I grew with soup operas, so it has to be at least recommended, to watch it), and some things i randomly pick about japanese culture on the internet
Something Alma Alexander (The secrets of Jin-shei) or Lian Hearn (Tales of the Otori) can't help me with
Maybe I'm just imagining things, OR i should investigate MOAR, or none of the above, or both of them
