While this is crazy and stupid and definitely worthy of outrage... wouldn't it be silly to say Bush can put his troops anywhere in the US? This bill technically hasn't gone all the way through...that'll probably not happen till early next year. Unless it goes all the way through, somehow escapes judicial review and comes into full effect in a very brief period of time...Bush will likely be on his way out of office before he can find a reason to send troops to eradicate Mormons in Nevada (which, by all means, he should). Maybe I'm just naive but...I don't think there's much else the Bush administration can really do as far as that. ...but yes, I'm probably just being nitpicky. :P
The martial law bit was a separate piece of legislation.
I'm becoming ever more convinced that Bush is not on his way out at all. Good point that this won't be in full effect until after he is scheduled to leave...but the bit of legislation giving him an easier time when he does declare martial law is definitely sketchy.
