Ok, so, I've been reading this feed called Fangirls Attack which collects together blog posts about comics, mostly about the female gender in comics. My reaction to the posts varies. Sometimes they are funny, sometimes shocking, sometimes just plain exasperating. I'm not trying to put down feminism but some people take things waaaaaay too seriously ( Read more... )

You beat me to it. The guys in comics are just as unrealistically drawn as women. It's a comic. They're super heroes. Of course they're going to have all the traits that most people find desirable. It enhances their mystique and believability as super heroes.

Some angry, angry people linked up there, Nance.

What always bothers me about comics is not the unrealistic or unattainably good shapes in comics, since that is demonstrably untrue. After all, I have never, to my knowledge, been on the front cover of a comic.

Sometimes it's annoying the portrayal of women, but mostly I don't think about it, cause it's just entertainment. Plus, I like to look at the pretty women (and men). Sometimes I feel bad for the girls though, I'm like, "wow, if I were doing that much leaping about and kicking that much ass, my breasts would be so sore if they were that huge! poor girl!"

And:
"Is this comic book cover sexist?". This one particular post was so exasperating. Ms Marvel is holding Iron Man's helmet under one arm, there's a montage behind her that includes a bunch of robot soldiers. The poster was asking if it was sexist b/c of the helmet's position and direction was suggestive since it was near her crotch. Oh jesus, get a life people!
I'd draw it like that on purpose, just to upset people....!

Oh and I leave you with this:
"I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way."
