I just came back from a meeting at the MEtabolic and Diabetic Eucation Center (or MEDEC) and found out that I should really look at moving to insulin injections rather than pills now.  Mostly, the pills aren't giving as great a lowering of sugar levels as they should be, and it's likely they're are losing their effectiveness.  That's not surprising ( Read more... )

I had no idea that pills were even an option for treating diabetes.

Oh, yes. For Type 2, they are an option, and are tried first, unless there's some reason that they won't do. There are a number of drugs that I take for the condition: Glycon, Januvia, and Glyburide. There are others, but those three are the ones I take.
