...was the last day that Oskar's Sausage Haus & Deli Meats was open for business. This was the deli/butcher shop you went to if you wanted authentic European-style sausages, meats, and cold cuts. Now he's closed up shop forever. Why? He decided it was was time to retire. After 39 years in business, you can't really argue that

What? This is terrible news! I was looking forward to shopping at Oskar's when I come back to visit this summer. :( Couldn't he have found someone else to take over the shop in his retirement?

Of course, I'm a bit spoiled for choice of German butchers here in Darmstadt, though Oskar's in Regina will always be my favourite. I'd bring you some fresh locally produced liverwurst from here but I don't think it would survive the journey. :(

I guess, he couldn't find anyone, but really...do you think he could be replaced so easily? I think not.

Incidentally, I should think actually being in Germany shouldn't count. After all, that's an unfair advantage.

I used to have a recipe for making liverwurst, but that was years ago. Too bad. I could use it now.
