...was the last day that Oskar's Sausage Haus & Deli Meats was open for business. This was the deli/butcher shop you went to if you wanted authentic European-style sausages, meats, and cold cuts. What? This is terrible news! I was looking forward to shopping at Oskar's when I come back to visit this summer. :( Couldn't he have found someone else to take over the shop in his retirement?

Of course, I'm a bit spoiled for choice of German butchers here in Darmstadt, though Oskar's in Regina will always be my favourite. I'd bring you some fresh locally produced liverwurst from here but I don't think it would survive the journey. :(

I guess, he couldn't find anyone, but really...do you think he could be replaced so easily? I think not.

Incidentally, I should think actually being in Germany shouldn't count. After all, that's an unfair advantage.

I used to have a recipe for making liverwurst, but that was years ago. Too bad. I could use it now.
