now for something totally random: I ♥ Meg

I think I might be the only person in spn fandom who prefers Original Meg to Meg #3. (Meg #2 being Sam, who is his own delicious entity and exists totally separate from this comparison.) Do most of you prefer Rachel Miner's Meg? It seems to be the consensus.

spn, this character ain't meant for fridges, this is spam

I have no problem with Miner, I actually like her performance and her voice of the character, I just wish she wasn't playing the same demon. Or that they'd named the actual demon and let the name Meg die with the ghost-Meg. Aycox made such a vivid impression. Manners directed the eps she was in, and he had a rapport with her, had known her from other previous work. I don't dislike Miner's portrayal, I think she works the character very well. I just resent the fact that the demon is still using Meg Masters' name. I think she'd be as effective if she was named Sylvia or something. Or C'ar'anyth.

I really think it's just Miner's voice rather that pulls me out of her performance; I have no problem with the rest of her performance.

You make a good point, though. Meg Masters was the name of the woman she possessed. It doesn't make sense for the demon to keep coming back as "Meg."

I didn't know that Aycox had worked with Manners previously. He really did bring out such fantastic, unforgettable performances from her. I miss Kim Manners so much.

Nicki was probably the "best" Meg, in terms of performance, but I really really love Rachel Miner's take on it as well. It's different, but as you said not so different that it's a personality overhaul. For some I guess Miner's choices on the cadence might be annoying but I find it fun to listen to (same with Alastair, some hated his Brando voice, I really enjoyed it). Miner makes me think of an old time movie actress--maybe from the 30's. She has that kind of face and over-enunciated delivery, she belongs in b&w. I find it fascinating.

Yeah, I remember reading how some people found Christopher Heyerdahl's speech pattern annoying. I never minded it at all, which is weird because it was very stylized, just like Miner's. She does seem like a perfect fit for old b&w films, now that you mention it. (It would have been a trip to see her in "Monster Movie.") Sometimes, it's a little more exaggerated than others; I mentioned elsewhere that I recently watched S5 disc 1, and she wasn't nearly as exaggerated in 5x01. So she's hit or miss for me, I guess.

Nicki Aycox will always be my "Meg" of choice, though. I just loved her so much. <3
