Holy wow! It's so goddamn depressing to read, but I'm utterly thrilled that you took the time to gather the info and write it all out. Now if anyone ever starts the old arguments, I can just send them to your post for proof that Dean pretty much never gets the care he deserves. ::high-fives you::
It's frustrating, because we hear about how the others talk about Dean--and we see how they exchange glances in scenes with him--but we just rarely get away from him to watch or eavesdrop on their concern directly. I wish they would change that up a bit.
I am pretty sure I got the gist of this very well-documented and well-thought out post (but I was reading while my children were home so...).
It might have been said already but the only reason I can think of for such discrepencies is that, along with being the goofball, flirting, badass that the character is, Jensen Ackles can also do worry, concern, and caring better than anyone. All of the actors/characters have their shining scenes of funny, crowning moments of badass, and 'damn it, you made me cry!', but I think we can all agree that Dean/Jensen is best on-screen (and not just spoken about).
(Reading while kids are present is a tough job! :) I envy your multi-tasking skills. I can never hold it together.)
Jensen is such a good actor, I agree. If I had to pick one reason that I've kept coming back to the show despite how it has really frustrated me at times, it would be that Jensen keeps reeling me back in.
I think Jared tends to not be credited for being as good as he is. Some of my favorite silent moments, so to speak (without dialogue, just an expression here or there), are by Jared. If only they would change up the dynamic a little, we'd get so much more of his potential, as well as see Jensen do more than stay in this cycle of angst. I'd love it for both boys, not to mention Cas (and Bobby, if he's still around).
I do get frustrated when some fans say that Dean girls complain for nothing. There are sometimes reasons for complaints, and it doesn't even always have to do with Dean alone. I hate this writing trend for Sam as much as for Dean. Lack of balance reflects on all of the characters. *throws up hands*
I want to say something of substance, but all I can think of is sitting here, pointing at this post, and going YES THIS, SHE'S SO RIGHT. Thanks for taking the time to look into this and share!

I want to hug you for this post. Even if it makes me depressed.
And they wonder why Dean girls are bitter? Huh?
